Sean McVay told reporters some significant news on Wednesday, announcing that Matthew Stafford is in the concussion protocol. He was placed in it on Tuesday, raising questions about whether he’ll be able to play against the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.
The game was immediately taken off the board by sportsbooks, not allowing anyone to bet on Rams-Cardinals due to Stafford’s uncertain status. Tipico Sportsbook then updated the lines and the spread has unsurprisingly shifted the Cardinals’ way.
The Rams opened as 3.5-point home favorites against Arizona but they’re now favored by just 1.5 points. Kyler Murray is also uncertain to play due to a hamstring injury, so that could be keeping the spread in the Rams’ favor for now, but if Murray is confirmed to be playing, Arizona could become the favorites.
Stafford should be worth more than 2 points, even if John Wolford did win his first career start against the Cardinals in 2020 when Jared Goff was injured. He would likely replace Stafford as the starting quarterback in the event that Stafford isn’t cleared.
