As the Super Bowl draws closer, matchups continue to be dissected from every angle imaginable. And one that we touched on a bit already has another fascinating angle to it and that’s the matchup between Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase and Los Angeles Rams CB Jalen Ramsey.
The Bengals have already said they won’t be afraid to go after Ramsey. On the flip side, Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris talked about the matchup from their perspective and was asked about going against Chase and if he would need to be double-teamed.
“Jalen is one of one. I would put him on anybody in the history of our game. We’re going to dictate the terms that day,” Morris said, according to NBC’s Michael J. Duarte.
With this star-power matchup, fans would want nothing else than Chase vs Ramsey one-on-one. And of course, if any cornerback can stand toe-to-toe and be trusted one-on-one with Chase, it’s Ramsey, who had four interceptions, 16 passes defended and a career-high 77 tackles this season. His four interceptions tied his career-high that he set in his second season in 2017 with the Jaguars.
Neither team is backing down here and we are here for it. There will be fireworks aplenty on the grandest stage of them all.
