The Principality Stadium has seen a fair bit of action recently, hosting Ed Sheeran, Tom Jones, and the Stereophonics for their gigs. On the evening of Thursday, June 30 however, the temperature was cranked up to a new level, leaving Cardiff residents looking in on a dreaded sight - the Principality on fire.
Thankfully, it was controlled and safe, but it didn't stop a few heads turning for those unaware of the concert. Big orange flames could be seen overflowing out of the top of the stadium, followed by thick black smoke. An amazing video captured by Bobby SG showed how drastic the scenes looked from the outside.
Those inside the Principality probably wouldn't be surprised by the pictures and videos circulating social media, given they were surrounded by flames, but for those unaware of the gig, it was quite a jarring sight.

The German band Rammstein is well-known for its large-scale performances, with a recent gig in Coventry being heard almost 11 miles away, however that didn't mean they held back for their Cardiff performance. WalesOnline writer Will Hayward said "Literally everything about a live Rammstein concert is BIG AND LOUD", and that's before the flames get going. You can read his full review here.
Shane Andrews MBE shared his pictures on social media, highlighting the scale of the pyrotechnics along the Cardiff skyline.
For fans, however, the show more than made up for the two-year wait due to the Coronavirus pandemic - even if a few left with two eyebrows fewer than they attended with.
