Rajasthan reports 4th Covid death in May

JAIPUR: The state reported its fourth Covid death in May after a person died of the virus in Dausa on Friday. The state's current toll stands at 9,556.

Besides, daily infections reported on Friday were 98% more than the cases reported on Thursday. The state reported 113 cases in the past 24 hours taking its overall tally to 12,85,523. Active cases increased from 491 to 577, a jump of 17.5%.

Dausa reported its 81st Covid death since 2020. In this month, the virus has claimed four lives. The first casualty was reported from Jaipur on May 4, the second from Ajmer on May 10, the third in Jaipur on May 25 and the fourth in Dausa on Friday. A health department official said they are keeping an eye on the pandemic in the state. "We are conducting sufficient tests for Covid to ensure proper surveillance," said the official.
