JAIPUR: An hour after a verbal spat with her husband a 22-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at Manpur locality of Behror in Alwar on Wednesday evening.
According to police, one Ajay Kumar who earns his livelihood by selling utensils came home and asked his wife Poonam to cook something for him in the evening. "He was asked to bring some vegetables for cooking. Later, he went to the market. On his return, he found that one of the rooms of their rented house was locked from inside. Expecting the worst, he informed the neighbours and later us. Finally, the door was unlocked, and the woman was found hanging from the ceiling," said police.
When the woman had locked herself inside the room, her children were playing outside and she was alone in the house, police added.
According to police, the woman and her husband had a verbal spat over an issue. "It was found that on July 27, the family witnessed death of a relative. On return, the woman's father-in-law had brought some bangles for her granddaughter and daughter of the deceased woman. This irked her and she had broken those bangles that led to a confrontation between husband and wife," said a police officer.
