NEW DELHI: The railway ministry on Thursday merged 36 posts including of the Railway Board chairman and members to create Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) at the top. The ministry said this has been done for “removing departmentalism” amongst railway officers and with this there will be no departmental quota for promotion to this level.
The Union Cabinet in December 2019 had decided complete restructuring of the railways' top bureaucracy and management to end inter-departmental fights.
