The Raiders made a bold trade during the 2022 offseason, giving away their first and second-round picks for Davante Adams. Not only did they have to give up two valuable picks for him, but they also gave him a monster contract extension to make him one of the highest-paid receivers in NFL history.
That move paid off for the Raiders as Adams was named to a first-team All-Pro selection. But there is still some debate as to where he ranks among his peers at the wide receiver position.
In a recent article by CBS Sports, they ranked the top 100 going into the 2023 season. That list included Adams, who came in at No. 17 on the list. Here is what CBS had to say about the All-Pro receiver for the Raiders:
In his first season with the Raiders, Adams had 100 catches with 14 touchdowns to show he could still play at a high level without Aaron Rodgers. What’s even more impressive is his per-catch average was a career-high 15.2 yards.
Adams was ranked as the No. 4 receiver on the list behind Justin Jefferson, Tyreek Hill and Ja’Marr Chase. Adams had one of the best years of his career last year despite not playing with Rodgers.
And he’ll have to do it again with a different quarterback in 2023 as the Raiders moved on from Derek Carr this offseason. But given his track record, you can expect Adams to play at a high level again this year.
