The Raiders have signed veteran Damien Williams to a contract for the 2023 season, Williams’s agent Ian Greengross announced on social media.
Williams, 31, has spent eight seasons in the NFL, starting with the Dolphins in 2014. He was a key member of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl championship team in 2020, accumulating a career high 498 rushing yards and five touchdowns that season. In that Super Bowl vs. San Francisco, Williams totaled 104 rushing yards and 29 receiving yards, and scored two touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving.
Since that season, Williams has struggled to gain traction. In 2021, Williams played 12 games for the Bears and rushed for 129 yards total, while he played in just one game last season for the Falcons.
Las Vegas makes the move amid Josh Jacobs’s holdout, as last year’s NFL rushing leader has yet to sign his franchise tender after not agreeing to a long-term deal with the team. Williams joins Zamir White, Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden on the Raiders’ running back depth chart with Jacobs out.
