The Raiders will kick off the preseason on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. While it’s not yet known how much the starters will play in that game, one player that we can expect to see is second-year RB Zamir White.
White had a strong preseason performance last year but didn’t have much of a role in the offense once the regular season kicked off. That likely won’t be the case again in 2023.
In a recent article by Bleacher Report, they named six players who should star in the preseason. That list included White, who will get plenty of opportunities during the preseason with Jacobs still not in camp. Here is a snippet of why the site believes White could have a monster preseason with the Raiders this year:
The Raiders will likely put White to the test in the preseason to see if he’s a viable fill-in for Jacobs. If they’re not impressed, the front office could dip into the free-agent market to sign Kareem Hunt, Leonard Fournette or Ezekiel Elliott for veteran insurance.
The Raiders aren’t afraid to give their top running back extensive work in the preseason. We saw that last year when Jacobs got a bunch of touches in the Hall of Fame game last year. Don’t expect anything different as the Raiders try to find out if White can be a lead back in case Jacobs doesn’t return for Week 1.
