Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones will not be present with the team on Wednesday, coach Josh McDaniels announced.
On Tuesday, Jones posted multiple irate messages to his Instagram story, saying that he had been locked out of the team’s workout facility, and took jabs at McDaniels and Raiders general manager David Ziegler.
In speaking with reporters, McDaniels described Jones situation as a “day to day” scenario.
“That’s kind of a personal situation,” McDaniels said, per Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. “We’ve never really gone into those things. … It’s a private matter.”
In addition to Jones’s social media comments, he shared a screenshot of multiple messages he purportedly sent to McDaniels, stating that it was“a shame” that he had to attend a “local gym to workout instead of the Raiders facility” as a top NFL athlete.
“This is wild to me Josh [McDaniels] and you know it you need to do what’s right,” Jones said in the final message to McDaniels.
Jones alleged that the franchise was not accepting his calls, but that the team purportedly reached out to his ex-girlfriend instead.
The four-time Pro Bowler wrote in his post—which has since been deleted—that he did not want to play for Las Vegas if McDaniels and Ziegler were in charge.
“F— it, I don’t wanna play for the Raiders if that’s my HC, or GM,” Jones said.
In 11 NFL seasons, Jones has registered 112 sacks, 511 combined tackles (352 solo), 121 tackles for loss, 34 forced fumbles, 30 pass deflections and one interception.
