MUMBAI: Team India's heart-breaking six-wicket defeat to Australia in the final of the World Cup on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will now be looked at as the end of an era. It was the last match for India with Rahul Dravid as head coach, TOI has learnt.
Multiple sources in the BCCI confirmed that the legendary batter, whose two-year contract ended with the conclusion of the World Cup, has decided not to continue as the head coach of the Indian team and has communicated the same to the BCCI. Dravid is set to be replaced in the role by his close friend VVS Laxman, who is currently the head coach of a second-string Indian team which will take on Australia in a five-match T20I series in Vizag from Thursday.
