Rafael Nadal has confirmed his participation in the men's singles tennis competition at the Paris Olympics, set to take place on the clay courts of Roland Garros. The 14-time French Open champion has been dealing with injuries over the past two years, raising questions about his ability to compete at the highest level.

During his first-round doubles victory with Carlos Alcaraz, Nadal had his right thigh taped, indicating ongoing physical challenges. Following the match, he expressed frustration over the scheduling of his matches, citing the late finish of his doubles match and the early start time for his next match.

Injuries raise doubts about Nadal's ability to perform at peak level.

Despite these concerns, Nadal has decided to pursue a gold medal in the singles competition and is scheduled to face Márton Fucsovics of Hungary in the opening round. However, due to a lengthy match between his compatriot Sara Sorribes Tormo and Barbora Krejcíková, Nadal's match has been delayed.

Krejcíková, the 2021 French Open winner and defending Wimbledon champion, emerged victorious in a hard-fought contest that went to a third-set tie-break, with a final score of 4-6, 6-0, 7-6(3). Nadal will now have to wait a little longer before stepping onto the court for his first singles match at the Paris Olympics.
