It’s not fiction: Quentin Tarantino is gearing up for his final act.
The “Pulp Fiction” director’s upcoming 10th film, whatever that may be, will be his last cinematic installment, he confirmed to CNN.
“I’ve been doing it for a long time. I’ve been doing it for 30 years and it’s time to wrap up the show,” Tarantino, 59, said. “I’m also not in a giant hurry to make my last movie either.”
Asked why he’s designated a cut-off, Tarantino explained that as “an entertainer” he wants “to leave you wanting more.”
“And I don’t want to work to diminishing returns,” he continued.
Tarantino said he doesn’t “want to become this old man who’s out of touch” but admits he’s already feeling that way “when it comes to the current movies that are out right now. And that’s what happens.”
The “Inglourious Basterds” writer-director — who has won two Oscars out of five nominations — said he doesn’t know “at all” what his final bow will look like — which he attributed to cinema’s quickly evolving landscape.
“Right now, I don’t even know what a movie is. Is that something that plays on Netflix? ... ‘Cause my last movie opened up in 3,000 theaters and played all over the world for a couple of months,” said Tarantino, referring to 2019′s “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.”
