Queen's Park launch new 'tartan' style kit with all profits going to Glasgow Children's Hospital

Queen's Park have launched a new 'tartan-esque' third kit with the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity set to benefit from sales.

The new 'Spirit of Glasgow' strip has been designed in conjunction with club sponsor Scotts Menswear with supporters able to get their hands on the shirt now. A Scottish saltire features on the jersey with the club finding the perfect day to announce the arrival on the anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns.

Owen Coyle's men have been a hit on the park this season with the Spiders flying high at the top of the Scottish Championship beyond the midway stage. They hold a four point advantage over nearest rivals Dundee - who they face next in a big top of the table clash this coming weekend. The club will be hoping the success on the park will be matched by the new third kit off it, with all profits made from the sale of the kit donated to charity in a move that Head of Commercial Kieran Koszary has hailed as a 'fantastic' cause and very much in keeping with the 'Spirit of Glasgow' message.

He said: “We have been working with Scotts on this new kit since our partnership began last year and we are delighted with the outcome. Like Queen’s Park, Scotts is proud of the roots it has put down in Glasgow.

“When the club was formed it was able to use the vibrancy and people of Glasgow to make connections, play games and grow both their standing and the game itself. The ‘Spirit of Glasgow’ kit captures that vibrancy and energy as well as Queen’s Park’s role with the national side.

“Robert Burns died in 1796 so never got to see Queen’s Park play, however I am sure he would have written a lot of positive prose about the club since 1867.

“I am delighted to advise that all profits that the club makes from the sale of the kit will be donated to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. The fact that all profits will be donated to such a fantastic cause is very much in keeping with the “Spirit of Glasgow”.

Kirsten Watson, CEO of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity said: “We are delighted to have the wonderful support of Queen’s Park FC with this exciting kit launch. Thanks to their support, Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity can continue working tirelessly to ensure that young patients receive the extra special care they deserve at our city’s children's hospital. The hospital is close to the hearts of people from across Glasgow, and we’d like to thank the fans and everyone at the club for their generosity.”
