Queen's funeral sparks three-day closure for East Ayrshire schools

East Ayrshire schools will be closed for three days instead of two because of the Queen's funeral.

Schools in the region are due to have their scheduled September weekend with pupils off on Friday, September 16 and Monday, September 19.

But because the Queen's funeral takes place on the same Monday, the public holiday is being pushed back 24 hours with schools now off on Tuesday, September 20 as well. This means pupils will return to the classroom on Wednesday, September 21.
