Queen Mary 2 coming into Liverpool tonight for Coronation celebration voyage

The Queen Mary 2 will arrive in Liverpool today.

The cruise liner departed from Southampton this morning and is currently estimated to arrive in Liverpool at 8.30pm. The special Coronation celebration voyage was announced at the last minute, with people being able to bag five nights on the vessel from £499 per person.

Cunard acting senior vice president Angus Struthers said: "We wanted to provide an opportunity for our guests to enjoy an unforgettable, very special and unique celebration of the Coronation. What better way to mark this momentous occasion than being on board our majestic flagship Queen.”

During the holiday, guests will be able to enjoy Coronation celebrations on board, as well as a port call in Cunard's "spiritual home" of Liverpool. The QM2 was last in Liverpool in 2019, when she moored in Liverpool cruise terminal as part of a transatlantic voyage to New York via Reykjavik and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Before that she was last seen in 2015 when 800,000 people came to see her and her sister ships Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth for Cunard's 175th anniversary Three Queens celebrations. Since that time QM2 has had a full re-fit and boasts 10 dining options on board, four swimming pools, a theatre and the first planetarium at sea.
