Queen Elizabeth II died of ‘old age’, the late monarch’s death certificate has confirmed.
Her Majesty died on September 8 at Balmoral, aged 96. The news was broken to the world at 6.30pm on the day; however, the document released by National Records of Scotland notes the time of the Queen’s death as 3.10pm.
The sovereign’s daughter Princess Anne is listed on the certificate as the informant, meaning that she would have notified the local registrar of her mother’s death. Anne revealed in an earlier statement paying tribute to the Queen that she was by her side in her final moments, saying: “I was fortunate to share the last 24 hours of my dearest mother’s life.”
