QPR boss Michael Beale quashes Aston Villa rumours only days after turning down Wolves manager’s job

Michael Beale has distanced himself from the Aston Villa job only days after the QPR manager rejected Wolves.

Links of a second Premier League club interested in the 42-year-old emerged after Steven Gerrard’s exit from Villa Park, with Mauricio Pochettino reported by Standard Sport to not want the job.

Beale, whose QPR side sit top of the Championship after beating Wigan 2-1 on Saturday, was part of Gerrard’s backroom staff until the summer and said he remains committed to the Rs.

“No chance,” he told talkSPORT. “They’re a great club with great history and good people behind the scenes.

“They’ve had two outstanding managers in the last two years and for whatever reason it hasn’t worked out so I think they may have to look at the way the club is run or the model – is the recruitment all in line?

“There’s a lot of good people behind the scenes that have got a lot of despair at the moment.

“I feel for the fans because it’s a wonderful football club, but no, I gave my commitment here the other day and there’s certainly no interest on my part with Aston Villa.

“A few of my friends have obviously lost their job in the last few days and obviously my loyalty is to that friendship.”
