The largest intake of junior doctors in Queensland history will form the base of an increase in frontline health workers across the state, the premier says.
More than 800 junior doctors are to be deployed across 20 health facilities, aiming to improve access to care in rural, regional and metropolitan hospitals.
"This is the largest intake of junior doctors in Queensland's history," Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said on Facebook on Monday.
"Our health system is built on the skills and professionalism of our workforce, which is why our government is employing an additional 9,475 staff across the board."
Another 200 paramedics and emergency medical dispatchers will also be added to the workforce.
Ms Palaszczuk and Health Minister Yvette D'Ath are expected to give further details of the announcement later on Monday.
