'Pushpa 2' box office collection Day 27: Allu Arjun starrer off to slow start on New Year's Eve; Aamir Khan congratulates team for 'blockbuster success'

The Allu Arjun-starrer 'Pushpa 2' began its New Year’s Eve box office run on a quieter note, earning just around Rs 74 lakh on its 27th day, state early estimates on sacnilk.com.

Pushpa 2: The Rule Movie Review

The film, which opened to record-breaking numbers, has seen a significant slowdown in collections as it nears the end of its theatrical run. Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 set the box office ablaze upon its release, smashing multiple records at the domestic and international front. With Allu Arjun reprising his role as the iconic Pushpa Raj, the film smashed through the Rs 1500 crore mark within its first three weeks at the box office, not only registering itself as the highest-earning film of 2024, but also saw it claim its way to the top three highest grossing Indian films of all time, inleague with Aamir Khan's Dangal and Prabhas' Baahubali 2.

While the action-drama dominated the box office during its first three weeks, the momentum has gradually declined in its fourth weekend. The film began its fourth Friday on a low with a collection of Rs 8.75 crore. It saw some growth over Saturday and Sunday, earning around Rs 12.5 crore and Rs 15.65 crore respectively. However, on Monday, the film witnessed a big 57% drop in collections, earning just around Rs 6.65 crore net.

According to trade analysts, the film is expected to pick up its pace over the day and close on a high. With the film's team wrapping up 2024 with a box office collection exceeding Rs 1700 crore, actor Aamir Khan, through his production house, extended a congratulatory message to Team Pushpa in a tweet that read, "Huge congratulations from AKP to the entire team of PUSHPA 2: THE RULE for the blockbuster success of the film! Wishing you continued success onwards and upwards."

Responding to the post, Allu Arjun wrote, "Thank You very much for your warm wishes. Wam Regards to the entire team of AKP."
