A popular Nottingham e-scooter company is set to close in the next few weeks in the city centre. The Pure Electric store is located on Maid Marian Way and will close on Tuesday, September 27
The shop has announced a major closing down sale with 30 percent off all merchandise while its stores remain open. The Somerset-based brand said they are 'shifting gears to ensure they are set for the future of urban transport' by closing some of their stores around the UK.
A large closing-down sale has been placed in the window and on the street outside the store which is now almost entirely empty. It is unclear how long it will remain to trade for. The store in Maid Marian Way opened in 2020 as part of an ambitious growth program just months before Nottingham started its own e-scooter trial program.

The brand, which also has a branch in Derby, took over from the Cycle Republic which was based at the same location. They took over all 11 stores nationwide.
Pure Electric will be moving solely into the e-scooter market but online rather than in retail stores. They will keep some of their retail partnerships open but they announced they will be closing the majority of their stores, including Nottingham.
A spokesperson for Pure Electrics said: "A Pure Electric spokesperson said: “Pure Electric was founded on the ambition to address the environmental and social issues of traditional transport systems in urban environments. To maintain our trajectory towards delivering our mission, we have decided to move away from e-bikes and focus exclusively on Pure branded e-scooters through our online channels and flagship store in London.
"This decision has ultimately led to the closure of most of our stores including the Nottingham branch. Our immediate focus is on supporting team members affected by the changes. This includes speaking with other retailers in our industry about opportunities for both our teams, and stores.
They added: "Providing a best-in-class experience for our community of riders remains a top priority and customers can continue to find us online via pureelectric.com. Our Rider Support Team is accessible through our website and social media channels and is on hand for support with warranties, repairs, servicing, or any other queries.”
