Pune: Woman offered drug-laced snack, robbed of gold chain

PUNE: A 52-year-old woman from Vishrantwadi was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs1.5 lakh after she consumed a sedative-laced biscuit offered by a co-passenger while travelling on a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus from Ahmednagar to Pune on Sunday evening.

The woman fell unconscious and had to be hospitalized by her family members after the bus reached its final destination at Wakdewadi depot. In her complaint lodged with the Khadki police on Monday after regaining consciousness, the woman said she bought some ‘pakodas’ during a halt at Shirur. Out of courtesy, she shared the same with a middle-aged man occupying the seat adjacent to her. The man, in turn, offered her biscuits. After consuming the same, she fell unconscious.
