Heavy monsoon rain continued to lash parts of Maharashtra on Monday, prompting authorities in Pune to declare a holiday for all schools and anganwadis after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for the district.
The decision comes as Maharashtra continues to witness another heavy spell of intense rainfall, with Pune, Mumbai, and several adjoining regions facing the risk of waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and localized flooding. The IMD has warned of more rainfall in the coming days in Pune.
