PUNE: The traffic diversion at the railway underpass in Khadki will continue for a few more days to assist the ongoing Metro work.
The MahaMetro recently completed the launching of a girder in the Khadki area.
Its officials said the cranes and a girder launcher were to be dismantled, for which traffic needed to stay diverted for the next three to four days.
“We are diverting the traffic as per the requirements. On Tuesday, the traffic moving towards the Range Hills was diverted for some hours. We are ensuring that road users face minimum hardships. Since the machinery used for the girder’s launch is huge and heavy, it takes some time for its dismantling and removal from the site. The roads are closed as a precautionary measure. Additional manpower has been deployed,” a MahaMetro official said.
The alternate underpasses in the Khadki area witnessed traffic snarls on Tuesday morning, following diversions.
Ashish Agarwala, a regular traveller, said the authorities should finish the works at the earliest and throw open the roads at full capacities.
Agarwala said the underpass at the Khadki police station needed repairs.
“There is a continuous water flow at the underpass, which is hampering the road, resulting in huge potholes and rough surface,” he said.
