PUNE: Four unemployed men, aged between 19 and 27 years, were arrested within hours after they allegedly intercepted and robbed a Wai resident of Rs5,000 near Uruli Devachi on Pune-Saswad road around midnight on Saturday.
Police recovered two motorcycles used in the crime and the robbed cash from the four men of Uruli Devachi. “Santosh Gautam Chavan (27), Laxman Chandrakant Dharwadkar (23), Deepak Shrirang Sakat (19) and Vikas Anil Kusale (22) are the arrested men. They are unemployed and do not have any criminal background,” said inspector Pramod Hambir of the Loni Kalbhor police.
The incident occurred when Ajinkya Ajit Wagh (30), who works with the administration department of a private firm at Wai in Satara district was returning in his car with his mother and a relative from Kharadi. After Wagh lodged a complaint with the police, the police team swung into action and took the four suspects into custody. During questioning, they admitted to the robbery.
