PSNI issue warning over 'crazy speed' after R driver detections

Police have issued a new warning about speeding after detecting two R drivers in separate incidents.

It comes after one R driver in Co Derry was allegedly driving at 86mph with four passengers in the car.

In a statement issued on NI Road Policing and Safety Twitter account, officers said road conditions were "hazardous" at the time.

Alongside a photo of a speedometer reading 86mph, a spokesperson said: "While on patrol last night on the Dunhill Rd, Coleraine, Road Policing Maydown stopped this R driver at 86mph.

"Road conditions were hazardous and with 4 passengers on board, it could have been so much worse."

In a second incident, another R driver was reportedly found to be driving at what the PSNI described as "crazy speed".

A spokesperson said: "Another R driver, another crazy speed! This time Maydown Road Policing officers were working in Derry/Londonderry when they detected this new driver travelling at over twice their 45 mph speed limit."
