Paris are European champions for a reason. PSG sent a message to their rivals with an impressive 4-2 victory over Manchester City on Matchday 2 of the Champions League. After dominating the first half to take a 3-0 lead, Luis Enrique’s side saw City come close to staging an incredible comeback in the second half, thanks to a brilliant Erling Haaland, who scored twice. PSG remain top of the league-phase table, ahead of Barcelona, whom they will face next Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid beat AS Roma in another thrilling encounter. Trailing 3-1 with just 10 minutes remaining, José Mourinho’s side fought back to secure a 4-3 victory. Bradley Barcola stole the show for Liverpool, scoring a hat-trick, while Aston Villa thrashed Fenerbahçe 6-0.
