Paris Saint-Germain director Luis Campos has revealed that Kylian Mbappe hasn't told him he wants to leave the club in January.
The 23-year-old is said to be unhappy in the French capital, with Marca going as far as to say his relationship with PSG has completely broken down after he asked to leave the club permanently in the summer. Mbappe was expected to join Los Blancos in July but had an eleventh-hour change of heart and penned new terms with his current side until 2025.
According to the Spanish publication, Mbappe would be allowed to join Liverpool as this doesn't breach the condition, but whether the Reds would have the financial muscle to make such a deal happen remains to be seen. The Frenchman agreed during contract talks with PSG that he wouldn't join Real Madrid even though he has agreed fresh terms with the Ligue 1 side, meaning that is a potential destination off the cards.
However, PSG chief Campos has admitted he hasn't heard anything about Mbappe leaving the club as the saga grows over the World Cup winner's future. He told Canal Plus: "Mbappé has never told me about his intention to leave in January. We speak with him, Messi, Ney… we’re very happy to be here."
Mbappe has been a sensation for the French side since joining from Monaco back in 2017, scoring 182 goals in 229 matches. He has won four Ligue 1 titles and the division's Player of the Year on three occasions.
But it could prove to be the end for Mbappe at PSG given his fractious relationship with the club and manager Christophe Galtier. On Sunday, Mbappe deleted an Instagram story after appearing to have a dig at Paris Saint-Germain for the way he is being used at the club following their goalless draw against Reims.
Mbappe has been used through the middle as a central forward at the start of the season, with Neymar typically off the left and Lionel Messi coming in from the right-wing. However, with Messi injured and Neymar rested, Mbappe started alongside Carlos Soler and Paulo Sarabia as a front-three in PSG's trip to Reims.
A depleted PSG side were frustrated throughout and couldn't break down a compact Reims defence, although Christophe Galtier's side did play the final 50 minutes with 10 men. Sergio Ramos was shown two yellow cards in quick succession for arguing with the referee shortly before half-time.
Mbappe was visibly frustrated at the final whistle as he drew a blank and he vented his frustration on social media after the game. He posted a picture of himself with the hashtag 'pivot gang' on his Instagram story. According to Get French Football News, that's a reference to the France international not wanting to play up front alone. In the same post, Mbappe said, as translated in English: "Draw, meeting Tuesday."
Having cut a frustrated figure on Saturday, Mbappe continued down the middle for PSG's game against Benfica in the Champions League as Neymar returned to the starting XI. Mbappe scored his side's opener from the penalty spot.
