PS VR2 price drops to lowest ever in the UK ahead of massive update

The PS VR2 is cheaper than ever right now ahead of a new update that lets you play even more games on the headset.

You can grab it for as low as £339 on the EE Store, but most retailers are offering it for £349, including Currys and Amazon. Either way, that’s a massive saving on the original price of £529. And, if you want a top game to go with it, the Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle is now just £389.

With the discount, the peripheral finally costs less than the PS5 console it’s made for, which starts from £390 for the digital edition and rises to £480 for the disc drive model.

The PS VR2 takes gaming up a notch. With its crystal-clear 4K picture, comfy fit, and mind-blowing features like eye-tracking and headset vibrations, it’s one of the best virtual reality goggles out there.

It’s also the easiest way to dive into the immersive world of high-end VR without breaking the bank on a gaming PC. You still need a PS5 to connect it to  — so, if you’ve got an Xbox, you’re better off with the excellent (and completely wireless) Meta Quest 3.

Of course, the PS VR2 doesn’t come cheap. The price tag is still hefty, despite the latest markdown. Plus, the games catalogue is a bit thin on the ground right now. While titles like Horizon Call of the Mountain are stunning, there’s not a huge library to explore just yet, especially when it comes to exclusive content.

But, things may be starting to look up. Sony recently announced the addition of PS VR2 games to PlayStation Plus, allowing Premium subscribers to get their hands on five free titles. They include Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners (and its second chapter), and Walkabout Mini Golf.

In addition to the full games, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers also have access to free trials for 11 PS VR2 titles, including Demeo, Ghost Signal, and Moss.

Sony is also about to unleash a ton of PC VR games on the device with support for the popular online gaming store, Steam. When the update drops on August 6, you’ll need a dedicated app and £50 adapter to use the PS VR2 with SteamVR.
