Protests against Manipur activist’s arrest in Delhi

Manipur Churachandpur Police Human Rights IMPHAL

IMPHAL: Police on Wednesday fired tear gas and mock bombs in Churachandpur district headquarters to disperse a large number of people who had gathered there to protest against the arrest of one Mark Thangmang Haokip, president of Manipur chapter of International Human Rights Association (IHRA).

Haokip (37) was arrested in New Delhi on Tuesday for not responding to a summons by Churachandpur police station informing him to appear before the investigating officer concerned for recording his statement on Sunday.
