Car production at the Morgan Motor Company factory in Malvern

Story Mining & Supply Co., the production company behind Starz's Outlander prequel, has acquired the rights to adapt William Kent Krueger's Cork O'Connor mystery thriller novels for television. The series follows the adventures of Cork O'Connor, a half-Irish, half-Ojibwe sheriff turned private investigator in Minnesota. With 19 books already published and a 20th on the way, the company is gearing up to bring these gripping stories to the small screen.

The decision to adapt the Cork O'Connor series was driven by the producers' passion for the material. Jim Kohlberg, co-founder of Story Mining & Supply Co., expressed his excitement for the project, drawing parallels to the enthusiasm he felt when first encountering the Outlander series. Alongside his partner Luke Parker Bowles, the duo will serve as executive producers, working closely with Krueger to ensure the essence of the novels is captured authentically.

Krueger himself has been waiting for the right team to bring his beloved characters to life on screen. With Story Mining & Supply Co. at the helm, he is confident that Cork O'Connor's intricate world of crime and intrigue will be faithfully translated for fans to enjoy.

The Cork O'Connor novels are known for their rich storytelling and complex characters, set against the backdrop of Aurora, Minnesota. As Cork delves into various mysteries, navigating a landscape of corruption and danger, viewers can expect a thrilling ride filled with twists and turns.

Parker Bowles highlighted the strategic storytelling employed by Krueger, likening it to a game of chess where the pieces only fall into place at the very end. This narrative depth promises an engaging viewing experience for audiences eager to see Cork O'Connor's adventures unfold.

Story Mining & Supply Co. has a track record of successful productions, including the upcoming Outlander: Blood of My Blood. With their expertise in bringing literary works to life, coupled with Krueger's compelling source material, the Cork O'Connor adaptation is poised to captivate viewers and honor the legacy of the book series.
