A prisoner was rushed to hospital on Friday night after a serious assault in Mountjoy Prison.
The incident happened shortly after 6pm in the Dublin jail with the man believed to have been attacked by a number of other inmates.
The inmate is currently being treated in hospital for serious injuries with gardai launching a full investigation.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating a serious assault on a man in his 30s that occurred on the evening of Friday, 29th July, 2022, at Mountjoy Prison in Dublin.
"The man is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.
"The scene has been technically examined and an incident room has been established at Mountjoy Garda Station.
"Investigations into this matter are ongoing."
The Irish Prison Service confirmed the incident, a spokesperson said: "The Irish Prison Service can confirm that a prisoner was seriously injured during an incident in Mountjoy Prison yesterday. The matter is subject to a Garda investigation."
