Prisoner appears in court charged with murdering Ian Huntley

Ian Huntley Murder Anthony Russell

Prisoner Anthony Russell, 43, has been charged with the murder of Ian Huntley.
Huntley, 52, died nine days after an alleged attack with a metal bar in a workshop at maximum security HMP Frankland on 26 February.
Russell appeared at Teesside Crown Court via videolink for a preliminary hearing, confirming his name and date of birth.
He was not asked to enter a plea, with a pre-trial preparation hearing scheduled for 24 April at Newcastle Crown Court.
Ian Huntley was serving a life sentence for the 2002 murders of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham, Cambridgeshire.
