Princess Royal Returns To Public Duties After Horse-Related Concussion

Princess Royal begins first public engagement since horse-related accident

The Princess Royal, Anne, has made her first public appearance since suffering a concussion in a horse-related incident. The incident occurred while she was out walking on June 23, resulting in a five-night hospital stay. Anne's return to public duties began with a visit to the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) National Championships at Hartpury University and Hartpury College in Gloucestershire.

The RDA, celebrating its 55th anniversary this year, has had a long-standing relationship with the princess. Anne has been the patron of the association since 1971 and became its president in 1986. Upon her arrival at the event, she was warmly welcomed by the association's chairwoman and chief executive.

During the event, the Princess Royal will participate in various activities, including joining supporters in the arena, presenting awards, and meeting with winners. The RDA community expressed their gratitude for Anne's presence, highlighting her significant contributions and support over the past five decades.

Following the incident, Anne has been recuperating at her Gatcombe Park residence in Gloucestershire, adhering to standard concussion protocols. Medical experts confirmed that her head injuries were consistent with a potential impact from a horse, although the exact details of the incident remain unclear.

After receiving initial treatment on-site, Anne was transported to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for further evaluation and care. Her recovery progress has allowed her to resume her royal duties gradually, starting with the RDA National Championships.
