Princess Kate 'refused to curtsy' to Queen Camila at Coronation amid 'tension'

Princess Kate 'refused to curtsy' to Queen Camilla and that pair have 'tension', a royal expert has claimed. According to author Tom Bower, this became clear during the coronation of King Charles III.

Millions tuned in earlier this month for the historic event, with the Princess of Wales one of 2,000 guests at Westminster Abbey. But Bower explained on Dan Wootton Tonight why "nobody moved a muscle" for Camilla on May 6 - including Kate.

He said: "If you look at the Coronation footage, as the King and Queen leave the thrones and head for the exit of Westminster Abbey, you’ll see that everyone bows and curtsies to the King and no one moves a limb, a muscle, when Camilla passes.

"And that’s because they were angry with her. No one moves." He continued: "Kate and William were angry too. That anger went right through that small part of the congregation by the throne, at the centre of Westminster Abbey."

"And in that moment it was absolutely noticeable to those people who had been excluded that nobody – let alone Kate – curtsied to Queen Camilla."

Host Dan Wootton then prompted Bower to explain further - with him stating that a stark contrast in the amount of Camilla's family present, to that of Kate's, The Express reports.

Bower alleged that Queen Camilla "bought twenty Parker Bowles' to the Coronation and there were four Middleton's".

He added: "And what was even more noticeable was at the Windsor concert the following day William makes no reference to Queen Camilla. So there is a tension there."

The author then said that the tensions put King Charles in a "dangerous position". Bower suggested that, this was likely, after an "exhausted" Queen Camilla "disappeared" from the public eye - just as Kate was "behaving like the Queen".

As the Coronation got underway at Westminster Abbey, royal fans kept their eyes on Kate Middleton as she paid tribute to her late mother-in-law and predecessor as the Princess of Wales.

Attending the regal ceremony with her husband, Prince William, and their three young children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, Kate wore a poignant jewellery tribute to Princess Diana.

It comes after a heartwarming video showed Princess Kate surprising fans at a train station. The Princess of Wales spent the day in Bath on Tuesday as part of a Dame Kelly Holmes Trust event.

In the clip, which has been shared on Twitter, Kate, wearing a yellow jacket, walks along the platform, accompanied by several people from her team. But she acknowledged a group of school children who happened to be waiting for a train.
