Prince Philip warned Kate Middleton that royal fame was not personal celebrity, according to royal biographer Gyles Brandreth, who says the late Duke of Edinburgh's advice was shaped by his concerns about Princess Diana.

The warning, reported in Brandreth's biography Philip: The Final Portrait, came as Kate adjusted to life as one of the most photographed members of the British royal family after marrying Prince William in April 2011.
