Prince Harry says 'I want my brother and father back' in trailer for bombshell ITV interview

Prince Harry has admitted that he would 'like his brother and father back' in a first-look clip of his exclusive interview with ITV. A trailer for Harry: The Interview, an exclusive in-depth discussion with ITV News at Ten presenter Tom Bradby, has been released today (January 2) and gives a glimpse of what viewers can expect from the tell-all chat.

The Duke of Sussex sat down with journalist Tom Bradby in California where he and his wife Meghan Markle now live ahead of the release of his much-anticipated memoir, Spare. In the 416-page book, which is set to be released on January 10, Harry is believed to have written about his childhood and upbringing with speculation that he may have included criticism against King Charles III and even Queen Camilla.

Prince Harry's 90-minute interview with ITV will air on January 8 two days before his autobiography release. The decision to speak with Mr Bradby is poignant as the journalist is said to be a friend of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the first interviewer who Meghan opened up to about her mental health struggles, reports The Times.

In a bombshell movement, the preview clip from his forthcoming interview hears Duke of Sussex admit: “I would like to get my father back, I would like to have my brother back”.

In a series of clips cut together with no context or questions from the broadcaster included, Prince Harry says: “It never needed to be this way” and references “the leaking and the planting” before stating “I want a family, not an institution”.

The Duke also adds: "They feel as though it is better to keep us, somehow, as the villains” and admits that “they have shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile”, although it is unclear who Harry is referring to here.

ITV said that Harry: The Interview will go into “unprecedented depth and detail” about his life in and outside the royal family.

The trailer comes as Prince Harry has also given an interview to Anderson Cooper for CBS News which will air this Sunday in the US.

During a short clip from an interview with CBS News’ 60 Minutes, Harry said: “Every single time I’ve tried to do it privately, there have been briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife.

“The family motto is ‘never complain, never explain’, but it’s just a motto.

“They (Buckingham Palace) will feed or have a conversation with a correspondent, and that correspondent will literally be spoon-fed information and write the story, and at the bottom of it, they will say they have reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment.

“But the whole story is Buckingham Palace commenting.

“So when we’re being told for the last six years, ‘we can’t put a statement out to protect you’, but you do it for other members of the family, there becomes a point when silence is betrayal.”

Harry: The Interview will air on ITV1 or can be streamed on ITVX at 9pm on January 8.
