Prince Harry has unlikely royal ally, but even she's still 'furious' with him - expert

Prince Harry has spared few of his royal relatives from sniping criticism since quitting his royal role.

Between his controversial memoir Spare and his eye-raising Netflix series with wife Meghan Markle - the digs have been coming thick and fast.

It's fair to say the Duke of Sussex has a rocky bond with many of his family members - not least his brother Prince William and sister-in-law Kate.

However, according to one royal expert, Harry has an unlikely royal ally in one of his relatives, who has a "soft spot" for him.

Former BBC correspondent Jennie Bond has claimed that Princess Anne has got on "pretty well" with her nephew over the years - and at King Charles' Coronation, they were even seen having an animated chat.

However, Jennie says this does not mean that Anne is still not "furious" with Harry for his criticisms.

She told OK! : "It was entirely natural to stop and chat with her nephew with whom, I think, she got on pretty well over the years rather than cause some kind of public scene.

"It was better to be amiable but I am quite sure that deep down Anne has been absolutely furious with Harry for upsetting her mother, his grandmother, so much in her last years.

"And for all the allegations he's made, I'm sure she'll be very unhappy with them, but this was neither the time nor place to discuss all that, so I mean she I mean, they look very relaxed together.

"She would have just put things on one side a little bit but I'm sure she is angry at the damage he's done to the royal reputation because she works so hard."

The Coronation earlier this month was the last time that Harry was seen with his royal relatives - and it was the first meet-up with any of them since the release of Spare.

In the explosive book, the Duke of Sussex accused his older brother William of physically attacking him during a heated row. He also dished on a disagreement between Meghan and Kate over bridesmaids' dresses in 2018.

The warring brothers did not speak to one another at the historic spectacle, with Harry returning to his home in Montecito, California, just hours after his father's crowning moment.

It is reported that William and Kate have not spoken to the Duke of Sussex since Queen Elizabeth II's funeral last September.

And a friend close to William claimed that the feud between them would not be ending any time soon.

The source told the Daily Beast : "Put it this way: I don't think anyone expects Harry to get an invite to William’s Coronation."

They added: "It's very clear that William and Kate are now extremely important members of the institution, so their view on Harry, which is basically the further away the better, will have to be taken into account."
