Prince Harry was seen boarding a British Airways flight at Aberdeen International Airport after leaving Balmoral Castle this morning. Harry wore a black suit and carried a shoulder bag as he walked towards the steps of the plane.
He was accompanied by a woman wearing a hi-vis vest, who he spoke with and at one stage he was seen placing his hand on her shoulder. The Duke of Sussex had raced to the Scottish Highlands to be at the monarch's bedside yesterday (Thursday), but sadly arrived around 90 minutes after the announcement of her death at the age of 96, the Mirror reports.
The British Airways flight carrying the Duke of Sussex departed Aberdeen International Airport at 10.20am. It landed at London Heathrow Airport at 11:32am.
The Duke had flown alone to Aberdeen Airport on Thursday, just hours after his brother William and two uncles Edward and Andrew flew to the same airport. This morning the Duke was seen being driven through the main gates of the Royal residence by his security team as part of a two-car convoy.
Prince Harry and wife Meghan happened to be in the UK from their home in California to attend the WellChild Awards on Thursday evening. A spokesperson for the couple had initially said Meghan would be joining her husband travelling north, but it was later decided she would remain in London.
The Sussexes, who were coming to the end of a whistle-stop visit to Europe when the Queen died, are expected to stay at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor to attend the Queen’s state funeral, likely be held on September 19.
