Prince Harry and William used secret code to communicate at royal funeral

Prince Harry and Prince William once used a secret code to communicate during their grandfather's funeral.

During an interview after the publication of his bombshell memoir Spare, Harry spoke about the code as he recalled how his brother "stopped him cold" when he used it at Prince Philip's funeral.

The two brother's relationship was already in ruins at that point after Harry and Meghan stepped down from their royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California to start a new life, the Mirror reports.

In his book, Harry spoke of how his sibling rivalry with the future King developed into a full-blown fallout after William repeatedly warned him about Meghan which led to a physical fight in 2019.

Now that the Sussexes live in the US, the two feuding Princes have barely seen each other since the death of Prince Philip in 2021.

They were photographed walking together at the funeral ceremony as they were finally reunited.

During an interview with ITV's Tom Bradby, Harry revealed that his brother had used the "special code" the pair have but it did not create the desired effect.

In Spare, Harry details how William had pulled him back so the two of them could speak privately as he told his younger brother that he loved him and wanted him to be happy.

Prince William reportedly said: "Harold you must listen to me, I just want you to be happy, Harold, I swear, I swear on mummy’s life" .

Harry explained that this was a phrase the two brothers knew only to use when they urgently needed to be heard by the other.

The Duke recalled to Bradby: "It stopped me cold, as it was meant to. Not because he'd used it, but because it didn’t work. I simply didn’t believe him."

Earlier this week, it was reported that Meghan Markle had taken the disagreements between Prince Harry and William "seriously" from the start, according to expert Judi James.

It was previously revealed that the two feuding brothers have not spoken since the release of Harry's memoir Spare, with the two royals only being reunited very briefly at the King's Coronation earlier this month but being kept apart.

In an old clip from 2018, the former "fab four" are seen talking about the Royal Foundation at the Make a Difference Together forum in London.

Meghan could be seen sitting with the two Princes and William's wife Kate Middleton, but it's now been revealed that during that time a royal rift was emerging.

Representing the Royal Foundation for the first time at the event, the Duchess of Sussex is said to have "sensed something serious" with her telling body language showing how she is feeling.

According to a body language expert, Meghan's body language during a previous interview in 2018 showed that she could sense the royal rift that was brewing between the two brothers (PA)

Body language expert Judi James has explained that Meghan may "have seen any disagreements between the brothers as something serious", which could possibly be why she appeared to cover her face during the public appearance.

Referring to the clip of the four royals sitting on a stage at the event, Judi told the Mirror US: "This telling footage has many comparisons to the footage of Charles and Diana’s engagement interview, with both showing powerful body language signs of future conflict and relationship splits.

"With Charles it was the terrible ‘Whatever in love means’ that threw an ice bucket over their marriage before the wedding had even taken place.

"With this launch of the ‘fab four’ it’s the moment when the two couples are asked about any disagreements and the spontaneous outbreak of embarrassed body language suggests there are already clashes and conflicts behind the calm smiles."
