It's the start of a new year and a new month, and that means Prime Video just became home to a ton of new shows and movies for us to stream. Sure, more choice is great, but it can always mean narrowing down your choices is a bit of a chore.
If you rely on what's trending on Prime Video (or any of the best streaming services) to make your streaming choices a little easier, you run the risk of stumbling onto a subpar show or movie. After all, just because something's popular, it doesn't necessarily mean it'll measure up. That's precisely why I keep a close eye on what's in Prime Video's top 10 movies charts, and regularly highlight just a handful of worthy watches.
For what it's worth, there's a solid selection in the mix, as the streamer added some of 2025's biggest and best releases at the end of last month, meaning there's something for everyone on the platform right now: horror, action, and releases fit for the whole family.
Read on to find my top three Prime Video recommendations, as well as a complete breakdown of everything that's currently in the Prime Video top 10 movies list.
Note: This article is based on the Prime Video U.S. top 10 as of Jan. 5, 2025.
Best mvoies in Prime Video's top 10
'Final Destination: Bloodlines' (2025)
Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein dropped their celebrated sixth installment in the "Final Destination" series back in May 2025, and, in great news for horror fans, "Final Destination: Bloodlines" ended up being both the best-received and best-performing movie in the entire franchise, to date (though it wasn't top of our "Final Destination" ranking).
"Final Destination: Bloodlines" centers on Stefani Reyes (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), a college student who is beset by a violent recurring nightmare of a tower collapse from the 1960s. To try and break the cycle of deadly accidents that plagues her family, she sets out to find her grandma and save everyone she loves from the grisly demise that awaits them...

'Sinners' (2025)
Fact is, you've almost certainly heard of "Sinners" in some capacity, as Ryan Coogler's gripping horror-thriller was one of the most talked-about movies of 2025. It's still sitting at an impressive 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, and rightly so.
"Sinners" is a truly electric watch from the "Black Panther" director, packed with spectacle, amazing songs and action, and brilliant performances. To put it simply: if you missed out on all the excitement last year, I'd seriously urge you to give it a shot.
The movie centers on two twin brothers, Smoke and Stack (both played by Michael B. Jordan), who leave their troubled lives behind and head back to their Mississippi hometown to open a juke joint... only to discover that there are more terrible evils waiting to welcome them back home.

'The Naked Gun' (2025)
If horror just isn't your jam, Prime Video also became home to a recent comedy gem at the end of December: Akiva Schaffer's 2025 legacy sequel, "The Naked Gun." Following on from the ridiculous spoof exploits of Lt. Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen), this modern comedic outing introduces us to his son, Lt. Frank Drebin Jr (Liam Neeson).
Our new star followed in father's footsteps and joined Police Squad, and in this new comedy caper, Drebin puts his unique set of skills to save the department (and the world).
"The Naked Gun" is easily the funniest movie I saw in 2025. Sometimes, legacy sequels don't measure up, but this stupendously silly watch is stacked with gags of all kinds and manages to serve up the laughs thick and fast. It thrives thanks in no small part to a brilliant comic turn from the "Taken" star. If you like dumb humor, I genuinely can't recommend "The Naked Gun" enough.
