Primark worker reveals 'secret' changing room feature and it's shocked shoppers

Dashing into a changing room armed with a bundle of clothes and perhaps an armful of shopping bags, you may not have taken the time to notice what some people are calling a 'secret' feature. They're in some Primark changing rooms and shoppers have been left 'gobsmacked' after the detail was highlighted recently.

It might only be a small design feature but when a Primark employee pointed out the feature, shoppers reacted. One person exclaimed: "Every fitting room should have these".

The feature that was highlighted was some small hooks beside the door. They look unremarkable, and as the Mirror pointed out, it's likely you've never given it an extra thought. However, it turns out that they do have a clever purpose, as Primark staff member @princezzchelley revealed via a TikTok.

Unlike the traditional hooks used for hanging clothes, this feature has a completely different purpose, as the TikTokker explained. Over the video they wrote: "Have you ever noticed these hooks in the Primark fitting room? So you can try on without worrying someone will open the curtain." She then put the hooks to the test in a demonstration, using two found on the side of her changing room's door to secure the modesty curtain.

In response, shoppers shared their shock after noticing the easily-missed feature. "Never noticed," read one reply. "I verbally gasped," said a second, and the video's creator replied: "I was amazed the first time I realised, instead of constantly pulling the curtain to make sure every bit is covered."

However, there could be another reason you haven't noticed the design - as viewers were quick to suggest the feature has not been rolled out to Primark stores nationwide. One commenter noted their local store's changing rooms does not feature the hooks, the creator responded: "The one I work at doesn’t either, although it is a smaller store compared to most."

Elsewhere, she said: "I think it must be only the bigger/newer stores." But the move could prove popular with shoppers, based on the comments. While several people suggested they prefer doors, others were impressed and others commented on features they'd seen: "Mine has those and the curtains also have little magnets that stick them to the wall", added one person, while another advised: "If you turn them they stay on better."
