President-elect Trump has nominated Florida sheriff Chad Chronister as the administrator of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Sheriff Chronister has an impressive 32-year career with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, receiving numerous commendations and awards for his dedication to keeping the community safe.
Trump highlighted Chronister's qualifications, including his graduation from the FBI National Academy, his role as Co-Chairman of the Regional Domestic Security Task Force for Region IV Tampa Bay, and his involvement in various criminal justice and public safety committees.
Trump emphasized that Chronister would collaborate with Pam Bondi, the nominee for attorney general, to address border security issues, combat the flow of illegal drugs, particularly Fentanyl, across the Southern Border, and ultimately save lives.
Chronister expressed his gratitude for the nomination, calling it the 'honor of a lifetime' and stating his deep humility in serving the nation. He was appointed by former Florida Governor Rick Scott to lead the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in 2017 and has been re-elected twice.
