Presenter Nick Knowles brought to tears during episode of Channel 5's Big House Clear Out

Presenter of Big House Clear Out Nick Knowles was brought to tears during an episode of the Channel 5 series on Thursday night.

Knowles and his team were tasked to transform the home of Sarah, whose war veteran husband Trevor passed away aged 55 leaving behind a living legacy of military memorabilia.

Struggling to keep on top of Trevor's collection, Sarah couldn't bring herself to part with the items which clearly meant so much to her late husband.

Nick, with Sarah's agreement, revealed the team had arranged for charity Forgotten Veterans UK to house the items, which left the host in floods of tears.

The Mirror reports that Sarah lost her husband of 21 years in March of last year when the military veteran suffered a fatal heart attack in Dubai.

And the loss was compounded by the fact Sarah, who had been living in the Middle East had just 30 days for her to pack up and leave the country.

Her return home resulted with a move to her daughter's home, which became piled high with belongings, leaving Sarah locked in her grief surrounded by Trevor's possessions.

Nick explained to Sarah: "I'll make you a promise. You do the tough stuff, get through the emotional bit of getting rid of half your stuff and you’re going to have an amazing house."

In emotional scenes, Nick explained the charities offer as he added: "To Trevor, that would have been really important, wouldn't it?"

A representative from the charity then explained: "With your permission, we would love to have a photo of your husband and some of the history of his service career. So when the vulnerable veterans come through, they can actually look at your husband as an inspiration to keep going in life."

Nick burst into tears, revealing: "You've got me choking up now."

And along with Sarah's stuff they also found her daughter Stevie, who let her move into her home, had a surprising amount of clutter which when laid out was hard to comprehend.

They discovered Sarah had 91 handbags, Stevie had 51 unused baking moulds and her daughter Hermione owned 207 soft toys.

Big House Clear Out continues to air on Channel 5 and also on the My 5 streaming platform.
