Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is confident Sandro Tonali has 'everything it takes' to become a success at Newcastle United and in the Premier League. The Italy international is due on Tyneside to complete his move from AC Milan in the coming days after his country's surprise elimination from the under-21 European Championships.
Tonali has agreed terms on a six-year contract at St James' Park, with the final touches to be confirmed on a transfer that will be worth at least £55 million. The 23-year-old opens up new tactical options for Eddie Howe in the engine room, with the midfielder's arrival opening up a potential advanced role for Bruno Guimaraes.
Tonali's impending departure from Serie A has caused shockwaves in his country, with national team boss Roberto Mancini admitting it is a 'problem' to watch the division's top talents leave for England. Negotiations with AC Milan and the player himself had been conducted around the summer tournament, with Italy bowing out on Wednesday night following defeat to Norway.
De Zerbi has made an instant impact in the Premier League, guiding Brighton to the Europa League following Graham Potter's early exit to Chelsea. The former Benevento, Palermo, and Sassuolo boss was asked about a return to Italy, amid links suggesting a move could be on the cards due to his exploits at the Amex Stadium.

De Zerbi admitted he would like a return to Serie A in the future, although accepted it was not a 'priority' at this stage of his career. The Seagulls head coach was then asked about the prospect of facing Tonali next season, and was asked whether the central midfielder would prove himself a success with the Magpies.
He told Italian outlet Calciomercato via Football Italia: “I think and hope he will do well, Tonali has everything it takes to make his mark in England too.”
