Pregnant mum, 18, found dead after being shot in her parked car with the engine running

A pregnant teenage mother described as '"fun-loving" and a "go-getter" has been found dead after being shot in her parked car, according to police in Florida.

18-year-old Kaylin Fiengo was found dead in her car at Coastline Park in Sanford, Florida on November 11 and had sustained a single gunshot wound.

Kaylin was reportedly 13 weeks pregnant at the time of her death and was already a mother to a one-year-old son.

Investigators said the engine of the young mother's vehicle was still running when she was found by a police patrol officer.

Police said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and that Kaylin had gone to the area to meet someone she knew.

A Sanford Police Department statement read: "Sanford Police are investigating a homicide that occurred late Friday night.

"On November 11, 2022 at approximately 11:20 PM, a Sanford Police Officer patrolling the area of Coastline Park, located at 900 West 9th Street, found a vehicle backed into a parking spot which appeared to be running.

"As the officer approached the vehicle, they located a white female, later identified as Kaylin Fiengo, in the driver's seat of the vehicle, dead from an apparent gunshot wound."

While the investigation is still in its early stages, police believed Kaylin was meeting someone she already knew.

"Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears Kaylin went to that location with the intent to meet a person known to her," the statement added.

"The circumstances surrounding what occurred are still under investigation, however, it does appear that this is an isolated incident."

Kaylin's dad, Ricky Fiengo, described his daughter as "fun-loving, happy, funny, a go-getter teenager".

Speaking about her murder, he reportedly said: "It's senseless. It's just so senseless."

Ricky also said "I just need there to be closure", adding: "To have this person get caught and dealt with, so I can close that part and start another part of the healing process."

Kaylin's mum, named as Sarah, reportedly said her daughter's death created an empty hole in her heart.

Chief Cecile Smith appealed to the local community for help catching the person responsible for killing Kaylin, she said:

"The senselessness of this type of violence is infuriating. Kaylin was a young mother who had her whole life ahead of her.

"This violence and destruction won't be tolerated in our community. I am confident that our residents will work with us to find the person responsible for Kaylin's death."

The police have anyone with information about the crime to contact the Sanford Police Department.
