Newcastle United will be looking to maintain their impressive start to the 2022/23 campaign as they travel to Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup Second Round. Eddie Howe has not hidden his desire to create history at St. James' Park and the Carabao Cup may be the best route to silverware.
The Magpies head coach is expected to hand a number of fringe players an opportunity to impress at Prenton Park, but knows they can ill-afford another poor campaign in thee domestic cups. Newcastle were dumped out of the FA Cup to Cambridge United in January, the only real low point of Howe's Tyneside tenure.
"I probably have to be honest," Howe told reporters, when asked about a cup venture. "Visualisation and having those high expectations, naturally, you do have to do that. You have to try and see it in your own head and believe it's possible.

"I'm not afraid to say that visualisation and imagining those things are very important. I wouldn't say I do it regularly. It's not necessarily a daily occurrence but you envisage the future and you just try and see what you can achieve. Certainly, it's one of my dreams."
