Pragmata is a sci-fi action-adventure from Resident Evil Requiem developer, Capcom, and it's now's officially out in the wild.
Today, April 17, marks its launch almost six years after it was first revealed back in 2020. Following protagonist Hugh and his android companion Diana, the new game brings to life a unique hacking twist and plenty of action in a futuristic setting, which you can learn more about in our Pragmata review.
If you're just about to step into the adventure for yourself, you can also head on over to our Pragmata tips guide to make the most of your time with the game, or check out our break down on Pragmata's length if you want to get a sense of how long the experience is before you get started. Pragmata release date

The Pragmata release date is April 17, 2026, meaning you can now tuck into the sci-fi shooter.
After it was originally set to land on April 24, Capcom brought the launch forward to an earlier date, and set the Pragmata release times for each region.
It's official releases spells the finish line in a long development journey for the game. When Pragmata was first revealed in 2020, it was originally aiming for a 2022 release, before it was later delayed into 2023. Then, it was later delayed indefinitely, and the studio went radio silent on the project time before we got this new launch date. Here's hoping third time's the charm!
Pragmata platforms

Pragmata released on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2 on April 17, 2026.
When it was first announced in June 2020, it was one of the early games to be revealed for the then next-gen consoles, which hadn't yet been released. Fast forward to 2026, and Pragmata landed on the same platforms, with the official website confirming a PC, Steam, and console launch.
It also later joined the library on Nintendo's latest console among the upcoming Switch 2 games lineup for 2026.
Pragmata trailers
The very first Pragmata trailer (just above) came our way back in 2020, with an introduction to a mysterious astronaut-like figure walking down a city street that we now know is the protagonist, Hugh. He's then joined by a young girl, who is later revealed to be an android companion. While the initial reveal offers up a mysterious first look, it introduces us to the two main characters and the curious sci-fi universe we'll be pulled into.
Another gameplay trailer (seen above), which dropped during the State of Play June 2025 showcase, gave us the most extensive look at Pragmata yet. "What comes after dreaming?", the title card reads, before we hear a mysterious voice introduce an organization known as the Delphi Corporation, which could have a major presence within the story of Pragmata and relate to some of its themes: "The future. It isn't just a dream, it's a promise," the voice says, as though it's an advertisement trying to sell us on the organization.
"One we're turning into reality. With our third generation of Lunafilament and advanced generative AI, we're reshaping the line between dreams and reality. We create life for our future. Delphi Corporation".
Finally, another Pragmata trailer came from The Game Awards 2025, and included the then new April 2026 release date. In it, you can see our armored protagonist frolicking on the beach with his little android child, as well as some new shots of a cosmopolitan futuristic cityscape we'll be exploring (and killing robots in). The trailer was probably the most substantial look yet at the father-daughter-like bond between the two protagonists, and I gotta say, even I'm starting to get invested in the unlikely duo.
Pragmata story and setting

Pragmata's story sees you take on the role of Hugh Williams who, as the Capcom Spotlight Showcase 2025 revealed, is a member of a team that's sent out to investigate a lunar facility that lost contact. After a lunar quake strikes, Hugh gets separated from his team and finds himself saved by Diana, an android girl who becomes his companion.
First introduced as D-I-03367 in the "First Contact" trailer, Hugh gives his companion the name Diana. Hugh is described as being a kind soul who's "a bit sarcastic", while Diana is "curious and enigmatic". We also know that the pair will have to work together to make it through a lunar research station.
In an interview with us here at GamesRadar+, game director Cho Yonghee shed more light on the thinking behind Diana as a character: "We could have gone with a more robotic look, but we chose a human-like design to make her warm and relatable. That contrast between her humanity and the stark, cold sci-fi backdrop reinforces the emotional core of the story and gameplay."
Taking place in a "near-future" setting with a distinct sci-fi edge, the station the pair venture to is said to be researching "a new material that can be used to 3D print almost anything". The station is now abandoned, with only AI remaining, and it'll be up to the pair to feat the AI and make it back to Earth.
Pragmata gameplay

Pragmata's gameplay focuses on the ways Hugh and Diana work together as they navigate the research station. With Diana hopping on Hugh's back as he goes up against foes, and also using a unqiue hacking ability. In a PlayStation blog post, Yonghee explained that both protagonists have their own abilities and expanded on the way you as the player are "controlling them both - at the same time - to overcome the many obstacles you'll face" throughout the game.
"This two-in-one approach, where Hacking is key to your success, is our own unique take on combat that you'll only find here - in Pragmata", Yonghee says, before adding that we can expect more details soon as Capcom delves "deeper into the combat experience in the near future".
In our Pragmata hands-on preview, our very own senior writer, Ashley Bardhan, got to check out its "unique hacking twist", which blends shooting with a puzzle-like element as you control the pair. As Ashley explains, Diana's hacking ability looks like a maze and is tied to the right stick on the controller. By hitting special nodes to reach a green power-on block, you can disengage a robot's armor to take it down.
The Capcom Spotlight Showcase 2025 livestream also highlights how combat begins by disarming enemies in order to take them down, with Diana's hacking ability (which sees you move a cursor through a panel to activate blue nodes) used to open up a robot's armor so Hugh can inflict damage by aiming at the enemy's weak points. If Diana passes through more blue nodes within a panel while hacking, damage is increased, and an enemy's armor stays disarmed for a longer period of time.
We also see how we'll be able to navigate around the lunar station using our thrusters, which propel Hugh up in the air to make it across platforms. Hacking also comes into play outside of combat, with Diana hacking systems that "block your progress", such as closed doors. All these mechanics were shown during a look at the game as part of Capcom's livestream on September 24, 2025 (just in case you wanted to see it for yourself). Pragmata development

Pragmata was initially revealed during the PS5 Future of Gaming event, which streamed back in 2020 to officially reveal the PS5 for the first time, some four months before the console launched.
Originally slated to launch in 2022, Capcom posted news confirming its decision to push back the release into 2023, citing that the team needed more time to "ensure this will be an unforgettable adventure". The delay was accompanied by new artwork of Diana holding up a sign with the amended release date and an apology.
Then, the project was indefinitely delayed in 2023 with a new trailer that dropped during a Capcom showcase, which marked the publisher's 40th anniversary. While assurances were given that the team were still hard at work, it wasn't until 2025 that we finally got to see the game once more, with Capcom even calling back to its initial delay artwork with a similar message confirming it's still very much real and on the way, with its new 2026 launch date confirmed for April 24, 2026.
