Postcode Lottery winning Arnold couple engaged for 29 years will use winnings to marry in Las Vegas

A couple from Arnold who won a combined £90,000 on the Postcode Lottery have said they will tie the knot in Las Vegas after being engaged for 29 years. Denise Bell, 71, and Alan Shaw, 74, are among eight neighbours whose postcode, NG5 6RT of Newton Close, was selected to win.

Each winner received a prize of £30,000, but Denise also had two tickets, meaning she won a total of £60,000 and a total of £270,000 was given to players on the street. And after being engaged for nearly three decades, the couple plan to finally get married.

Alan proposed in Asda while Denise worked as a cashier on the checkouts. They both admitted that life had got in the way and they had delayed getting married several times, but always dreamt of being wed in Las Vegas.

Denise said: "We've been together for 32 years and been engaged for 29, and now we'll get married. I can get my hip done too, I've been waiting to have my hip replacement."

Chris Adams, 47, was another winner of £30,000. He found out about his prize alongside his wife Emma, who said she cannot wait to take their two kids away on a holiday abroad.

Colin said: "Today has been a lucky day! We are a family on this street and it's just nice to see other people having a little bit of luck in life."
