The Royal Inn in Portishead has announced its reopening date - and it's only a matter of weeks away. The venue on Pier Road will be welcoming customers back through its doors from Monday, July 24 after months of closure.
It has undergone what staff say are 'stunning renovations' to the pub, hotel and garden terrace, which boasts "picturesque waterside views across to Avonmouth". It's now been taken over by the Chef & Brewer Collection of country pubs.
To mark the occasion, the team at The Royal Inn will be marking the celebrations by burying their very own time capsule in the pub's garden during a private launch event 'to document this landmark moment within the community'.
The sealing and burial of the time capsule, which will contain a variety of memorable items not to be seen again for 100 years, will take place on Friday, July 21, 2023, a few days before the Inn reopens to locals and visitors. According to its new webpage on the Chef & Brewer Collection website, The Royal Inn shared a message.

It reads: "Exciting news, we have been chosen to become part of the Chef & Brewer Collection on July 24... Thank you for bearing with us during this time. We can't wait to welcome you."
The news will surely come as a welcome surprise for its regulars desperate to enjoy the last weeks of summer sunshine in their favourite local's new garden terrace.
